Can Lis – Utzon’s Hidden Masterpiece – Trailer I

Media Detail

Can Lis, designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon, stands as a hidden masterpiece nestled on the cliffs of the South East coast of an island. Its breathtaking location is matched only by the genius of its creator.

Utzon’s brilliance lies in seamlessly blending daring modernism with traditional architecture and local materials, resulting in an iconic example of sustainability and climate adaptation.

Can Lis isn’t merely an architectural marvel; it’s a window into the man behind it. The house brims with details that offer glimpses into Utzon’s personal life and his intimate connection to the land he chose as his sanctuary.

Our team spent two weekends immersed in the world of Utzon through Can Lis, exploring the beautiful Balearic Island. We delved into Mallorca’s materials, particularly the marés stone, which imparts that recognizable golden hue to the island. From prehistoric ruins to stunning quarries, cathedrals, and roadside houses, we traced the journey of this remarkable stone.

Beyond architecture, we soaked in the local culture, savored the food, and connected with the island’s people and landscapes. Mallorca has etched itself into our hearts.

True to our ethos of sharing, we’re thrilled to present Utzon and Can Lis’ story through a unique approach—an architectural documentary. Our hardworking team is putting the finishing touches on this project, and we invite you to catch a glimpse of it through the first trailer.
