Juan Cruz-Guevara presents the soundtrack of Can Lis – Utzon’s Hidden Masterpiece in Purchena
News Detail
On 12 September 2025 at 9:00 pm, composer Juan Cruz-Guevara presented the documentary Can Lis – Utzon’s Hidden Masterpiece, for which he created the original soundtrack, at the Espacio Escénico in Purchena (Almería). The screening took place as part of the Fifth edition of the Albert Hay Malotte Festival, a cultural event that brings together music, cinema and literature within the historic framework of the Moorish Games of Purchena.
The evening began with the full screening of the 53-minute documentary, followed by a live talk in which the composer shared with the audience how the opportunity to join the project arose and how the creative process of the music developed.
The reception could not have been warmer: the Espacio Escénico was filled to capacity, with an audience that enjoyed an experience that was both cultural and deeply personal. Among those attending were numerous family members, neighbours and friends of Juan Cruz-Guevara, which made the event especially moving.
The Albert Hay Malotte Festival, sponsored by the Provincial Council of Almería, Vive Andalucía – Regional Ministry of Tourism and Andalucía Exterior, the Andalusian Youth Institute and the Purchena Town Council, continues to consolidate its role as a leading meeting point for culture and the arts in the province.
Can Lis – Utzon’s Hidden Masterpiece, produced by Share Your Green Design, had already been screened in Aalborg (Denmark) and Granada (Spain) prior to its arrival in Purchena. The documentary explores Can Lis, the house designed by architect Jørn Utzon in Mallorca, regarded as a hidden masterpiece for the way it fuses landscape, architecture and everyday life.
Juan Cruz-Guevara’s music has played an essential role in bringing this audiovisual story to life, adding emotion, atmosphere and depth to the cinematic experience. For the documentary’s team, his composition is not merely a sound accompaniment, but an artistic voice that allows Utzon’s architecture to “breathe” on screen.
The evening of 12 September clearly demonstrated that, beyond festivals and international premieres, the return of a creator to his hometown can become a shared celebration: a bridge between music, memory and community.
