Technical Specification Advisor Vacancy/

Ecological Building System
United Kingdom

Our friendly customer service and knowledgeable technical team has ensured that Ecological Building Systems has, and remains at the forefront of natural insulation, air and windtight products for more than two decades.

We are always planning for the future and with that in mind, we are now looking for a new Technical Specification Advisor to join us to cover Scotland.

For anyone who has previously collaborated with us, they will be aware that our technical team is an essential part of any project. Pairing knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm for a “Fabric First” approach, with high quality, eco-friendly products has allowed us to grow as a company and build a brand name that people can trust.

Our technical team members use their knowledge and experience on all kinds of projects, from schools to homes, government buildings to hotels. Whether these be new builds to historic buildings, our technical team provide advice and recommendations to ensure that the correct products are used in the most appropriate and environmentally conscious way.

What kind of person would suit this Technical Specification Advisor?

Friendly, happy to talk and offer advice to everyone on the build, from the client to the construction team. A passion for ecological, low energy construction and improving the built environment is also key. Ecological Building Systems is keen to continually grow and develop, always improving who we are, so we’re looking for someone who is willing to learn new skills both technical and commercially, as well as sharing your knowledge and experience with others in presentations, training and day to day.

We are recruiting for this role to cover Scotland, but you will also be visiting our office in Cumbria from time to time,  so you’ll need to have a clean driving license. The role is based from home but to also be flexible in terms of travel. There may be some overnight stays required around the UK and occasionally Europe to visit our manufacturing partners.

It is essential that the right candidate has a higher education linked to construction. If they have a degree or are a Certified Passivhaus Designers / Consultant / Contractor or have a Retrofit qualification, that would also be wonderful. A minimum 5 years’ experience in the Construction sector is also essential. An active working knowledge of topics such as Insulation, Passivhaus principles, project specification with architects, building site visit experience, building regulation knowledge, U value, and Dew Point analysis, reading drawings, commercial knowledge (pricing, tender bids for large projects etc.), proven ability to close off specifications and sales would be preferable.

Other essential skills include writing (for blogs, emails, site articles etc.) highly organised and able to deal with project enquiries in an effective and timely manner, a high level of attention to detail, a natural problem solver combined with an ability to work as an individual or as part of a team and provide an exceptional level of customer care.
