Job Description

AECOM has an opening for a Sustainability Manager to support our growing decarbonization initiatives across our business. Achieving net zero emissions applies both to our internal operations as well as to how we engage and support our clients to achieve their own net-zero targets. We’re cutting both our own carbon impact and helping clients achieve net zero through strategies, services, and solutions that reduce operational and embodied carbon now and in the future.

The successful candidate will support the development and manage the implementation of decarbonization programs, projects, and initiatives for internal and external clients. The built environment accounts for almost half of all carbon emissions emitted each year. As a large infrastructure firm, our biggest impact in addressing the climate emergency is through the work we do for our clients. ScopeX is AECOM’s approach to reducing the carbon footprint of the projects we deliver. It is a way to systematize the decisions involved in how we conceptualize, design and implement projects to consider carbon.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate day-to-day aspects of a technical workstream, including cross-business collaboration, ensuring the quality of work product, effective communications, scheduling, and utilizing technical staff to ensure work product completion
  • Manage development and delivery of presentations, reports, and workshops related to decarbonization services
  • Deliver effective presentations and responses to questions and inquiries from colleagues, clients, and industry professionals in an accurate and timely manner
  • Lead the development of standard operating procedures and best practices for decarbonization across AECOM’s portfolio of projects
  • Provide operational leadership in support of AECOM’s decarbonization practice
  • Provides solutions to client challenges developed from a foundation of understanding or analysis of client business practices and goals
  • Develops work plans, task definitions and participates in data collection, and helps to develop solutions to client problems with a focus on financial analysis and capital investment
  • Leads and supervises a team of consultants and/or other staff
