Senior Policy Analyst Climate Change

Mitigation Division Infrastructure Canada

This Senior Policy Analyst will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping and advancing the Government of Canada’s policies related to low-embodied carbon infrastructure. This position is under the Policy & Results Branch under the Climate Change Mitigation and Horizontal Policy Division in the Environment and Infrastructure Policy Directorate. As a Senior Policy Analyst, you will have the unique opportunity to influence critical decisions that impact the federal policies to support the transition toward a low carbon construction sector and advancing Canada’s climate change commitments. The successful candidate will be tasked with:

  • Conducting in-depth research and analysis to inform the development of policies related to the use of low-carbon construction materials and design, including life-cycle assessment, in Canadian infrastructure projects.
  • Providing advice and recommendations to senior officials within and outside of Infrastructure Canada on policies related to low-carbon infrastructure.
  • Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including subject matter experts, government officials, stakeholders, and industry partners, to develop policy recommendations and implement these in practice.
  • Leading the review of policy outcomes throughout implementation as low-carbon measures are phased into new initiatives, while ensuring that policies align with the evolving technical, economic and supply chain context.
  • Communicating complex policy issues clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences, including senior leadership, government officials, and the public.

To thrive in this role, you should possess a demonstrated track record of policy analysis and development, and a strong technical understanding of building and infrastructure life-cycle assessment and/or embodied carbon of construction materials. Your ability to think critically, work collaboratively, and communicate persuasively will be key to your success in influencing the direction of Canada’s policies for years to come.

If you are passionate about making a meaningful contribution to Canada’s sustainable development and are ready to embark on a journey of professional growth and impact, we encourage you to apply for this Senior Policy Analyst position.
