Amazon

DESCRIPTION

Job summary
At Amazon, we’re working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people that are committed to making a meaningful impact on sustainability. We are looking for a Carbon Footprint Expert to join our growing Worldwide Net Zero Carbon organization. Worldwide NetZero Carbon leads Amazon’s internal transformation to achieve Net Zero Carbon by 2040 – by reducing our carbon footprint and by neutralizing any remaining emissions with credible carbon offsets.

As the lead Carbon Footprint Specialist, you will help align our business strategy with our carbon reduction strategy. You will influence the investments choices we make to reduce Amazon’s carbon emissions and assert our accounting and reporting comply with public policy frameworks and standards (such as GHGP). You will assess environmental impacts across the Amazon business ecosystem from manufacturing, to logistics, to consumer use, to end-of-life, and recommend strategies to our leaders. You will work with outside standardization bodies such as World Resources Institute (WRI) and regulators to help shape the future of carbon accounting by introducing the latest science; and with Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) to determine intermediate goals for us to work towards as milestones to achieve NetZero Carbon by 2040.

The successful candidate will have experience in working with NGOs and other stakeholders on disclosing the carbon footprint of complex organizations, and in advising decarbonization strategy, and will play a central role in working with external auditors on preparing our annual carbon footprint, and other public voluntary or regulatory disclosures. The ideal candidate will have industry experience working with public carbon accounting and reporting frameworks such as Greenhouse Protocol (GHGP), Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), and Science Based Target initiative (SBTi). The candidate will collaborate effectively with business owners as well as with regulators and standardization bodies to help us advance our sustainability goals.

Candidates must have strong analytical and program skills, and the ability to apply systems thinking to complex, fast moving problems and be comfortable working with imperfect data. They will work under the direction of senior business and product leaders, but will act as a Subject Matter Expert for topics related to carbon footprint accounting and reporting, and related to aligning our decarbonization strategy to regulations and frameworks from public disclosure.
