Do you want to further your career in construction material circularity and play a pivotal role in its integration into climate mitigation models? Then DTU Sustain, Department of Environmental and Resource Engineering offers you an ideal position to work on the circular economy (CE) frontier and climate mitigation models. The position will be instrumental in accomplishing a newly funded EU RIA project that aims to bridge the gap between LCA and climate change models. You will integrate a growing group of climate and circular economy modelers, with an emphasis on industrial ecology. You will be a member of the Section of Materials and Durability – we are around 50 people – working on construction materials.

Responsibilities and qualifications
You should be highly motivated and self-driven, as well as have strong work ethics, team spirit and excellent collaboration skills. You take responsibility for your work in an organized and structured manner.

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent), preferably within environmental engineering, statistics, or data science with a passion for sustainability. You should have some Postdoctoral experience.

As an ideal candidate, you have documented experience with the following:

  • Large datasets management, preferably with modeling, statistical or LCA background
  • Uncertainty analysis, statistical data management
  • Knowledge of material flow analysis, life cycle assessment modeling, social-LCA, and/or life cycle cost modeling
  • Concepts of circular economy, climate mitigation models, planetary boundaries, and sustainability
  • Scientific writing and publication at the international journal level
  • Would like to learn about project management and support RIA Horizon Europe project.

Desired skill in database software and ontology approaches, focusing on environmental variables and impacts. Good command of written and spoken English is required. Experience with interdisciplinary is necessary to ensure strong collaboration with the other colleagues within the Centre.

Active dissemination of your results in high-impact scientific articles and through participation in international conferences is an important part of your job.

Salary and terms of employment 
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The position is a full-time position.

The period of employment is 2 years. The starting date is the 1st of March 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter, according to mutual agreement.
