Foster + Partners is an integrated architectural + engineering practice, committed to delivering

The Sustainable Environmental Design and Analysis Team are looking for Sustainability focused
practitioners to join our growing Environmental Engineering team at Foster + Partners. In your role
you’ll have the chance to apply your expertise across a diverse range of projects— local masterplans
to global landmarks. Your role will be pivotal in shaping our net-zero future.

• Develop impactful and holistic sustainability strategies and implementation plans, to address
resource consumption, environmental impacts, user well-being, social enhancement, and
economic stability.
• Collaborate with passion, working alongside multidisciplinary teams to instil sustainability into
our projects.
• Utilise state-of-the-art analytical software and in-house tools for computational analysis to
support our sustainable approach.
• Integrate high-performance, resource-efficient solutions into our designs.

The Role:
• Spearhead the creation of tailored sustainability strategies for projects, establishing clear goals,
targets, and KPIs for measurable impact.
• Cultivate an extensive understanding of sustainable design principles, and stay ahead of global
sustainability policy trends.
• Align projects with client-specific Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) objectives,
ensuring seamless integration throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide guidance in the delivery of globally recognized sustainability standards such as LEED,
BREEAM, WELL, Mostadam, or equivalents.
• Play a role in the expansion of Foster + Partners sustainability services globally.
• Implement bioclimatic principles and passive design techniques to minimize energy consumption
and enhance environmental performance.
• Proactively seek and apply strategies for decarbonization and resilience in design and operations.
• Collaborate closely with design teams to embed Whole Life Carbon considerations into project
planning and execution.
• Explore and integrate cutting-edge low and zero carbon technologies to advance project
sustainability.
• Conduct in-depth research and analysis, producing clear and insightful reports, presentations, and
communications.
• Lead the development of environmental design and analytical studies, promoting an integrated
approach to design challenges.
• Demonstrate a passionate commitment to integrating sustainable strategies and design principles
into your career development.

Qualities and Skills:
• Hold an undergraduate degree in Architecture or Engineering, a Master’s in
Sustainable/Environmental Design, or bring equivalent experience to the table.
• Communicate complex or technical subjects in a clear, concise, and accessible manner.
• Have experience in the delivery of Environmental Assessment frameworks, such as LEED,
BREEAM, WELL, and Mostadam
• Be chartered, registered with a professional board, or in the process of achieving such
professional recognition.
• Exhibit strong graphic and illustrative skills to effectively communicate design concepts visually.
• Demonstrate a proactive and initiative-driven approach to tasks, showcasing exceptional
organizational, leadership, and management capabilities.
• While not essential, experience with computational environmental analysis or energy modeling
tools like IES-VE, Energy Plus, OpenStudio, Grasshopper, or OneClickLCA is highly valued.
• Maintain a strong graphic and illustrative skill set to support diverse project needs.
• Be self-motivated with a keen ability to undertake and excel in tasks independently.
• Seek opportunities to actively engage in advisory groups for net-zero standards like LETI UK,
NABERS, or the UK Net Zero Standard, contributing to the forefront of sustainability.
• Have practical experience with Computer Aided Design and 3D modelling tools, with a preference
for Rhino and Revit.
• Working towards or already Chartered/Registered with a professional board.
• Possess knowledge of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) procedures, environmental
engineering, and the construction industry, enhancing your contribution to projects.
• Have the legal right to work in the country, ensuring compliance and eligibility.
