Under the direction of the State Planning and Policy Development (SPPD) Executive Director, the Deputy Director for Planning and Climate Policy is responsible for running OPR’s Integrated Climate Adaptation and Resiliency Program’s (ICARP) Technical Advisory Council and strategic oversight of key program areas: Judicial Streamlining, Planning and Land Use, California Fifth Climate Change Assessment, and Climate Services. The Deputy for Planning and Climate Policy ensures these programs align with California’s environmental goals, fostering interagency collaboration, strategic planning, and policy integration.

NOTE: Training & Development (T&D) assignments will not be considered for this recruitment.

Working Conditions

Persons appointed to this position must be reasonably expected to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. This position may be eligible to participate in OPR’s hybrid telework schedule. Participation in Telework is subject to OPR’s guidelines. Occasional/overnight travel up to 10% may be required.

All OPR employees must reside in California upon appointment.
