Carbon Engineer  – IRELAND OR UK

As a Carbon Engineer, you will drive a key part of the sustainability strategy for an industry leader in the construction sector across Ireland, the UK and Europe. Our 2030 Sustainability Roadmap has set us on an ambitious path to zero carbon and we are now looking to expand the carbon engineering function at Sisk. This exciting opportunity will appeal to an enthusiastic expert in the field of carbon engineering and management.

The Carbon Engineer is responsible for supporting project teams and their clients in measuring the carbon footprint of a project design, using tools such as One Click LCA, and identifying opportunities to reduce this and construction carbon emissions. This role works with other functions in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment delivering life cycle assessments and developing associated carbon reduction strategies for Sisk and our clients. The Carbon Engineer assists our wider sustainability and operational teams in helping the business achieve our carbon reduction targets, implementing our net zero and sustainability strategies.

You will be: 

  • Promoting the Sisk sustainability strategy and wider business core priorities, acting as a torchbearer, educating and helping others play their part in achieving our objectives.
  • Helping the business make informed decisions through the provision of robust carbon data and effective interpretation.
  • Supporting work winning activities, advising on carbon related matters.
  • Supporting client carbon reduction strategies.
  • Supporting the delivery of training, briefings and workshops as required.
  • Assist in the development of client Life Cycle Carbon Assessments through multifunctional collaboration.
  • Identification, development and implementation of carbon reduction opportunities.
  • Assist in monitoring and targeting of our carbon emissions.
  • Assist with the implementation of carbon management and verification strategies for internal and external compliance.
  • Attend sites on an ad-hoc basis to review carbon management practices and support project teams on carbon performance.
  • Introduce innovative practices and grow a team of carbon specialists as required.

You will have:

  • Extensive carbon management experience.
  • Relevant engineering or related technical degree and past experience in carbon management.
  • Robust knowledge of carbon management systems and standards.
  • Strong project development capabilities for complex, large-scale projects.
  • Knowledge of innovative carbon reduction technologies.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Strong communications skills, and an ability to develop and maintain partnerships with project teams, suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Ambitious, self-motivated and enthusiastic.
