About you

You are an energetic energy professional with industry experience developing, financing or procuring clean energy in Southeast Asia (SEA). You will understand and have firsthand experience navigating the bottlenecks slowing the development of clean energy in SEA and will have bold but practical ideas about how to ease these bottlenecks with data- and solution-centric engagements. You love working with numbers and have experience working with energy datasets. You will work collaboratively with our data, modelling and communications teams to support these engagements. These engagements – by way of example only – will involve using our data to:

  • Supporting the development of our Coal Asset Transition (CAT) Tool and Future Energy Outlook for other Southeast Asian countries by collecting, organising and analysing model inputs, such as tariff prices and capital costs

  • Write a report for a Filipino thinktank on the cost to households and businesses of investing in LNG infrastructure as opposed to carbon-free alternatives

  • Host a workshop in collaboration with an Indonesian thinktank to train PLN employees on how to use our resource planning model for capacity expansion decisions

  • Prepare a presentation for big tech on how existing data centres in Singapore can achieve 24/7 carbon-free energy on an hourly basis by 2030

Responsibilities:

You will:

  • Work closely with Jacqueline Tao, our Singapore-based analyst, and the Head of Data Insights, on the development of strategy through to idea generation and identification of engagement priorities

  • Work with the CEO and Jacqueline to develop, monitor and refine the key performance indicators (KPIs) for our work in SEA

  • Work with our data, modelling and communications teams to ensure your publications and engagements are as impactful as possible

  • Support scenario development and lead authors with report writing

  • Peer review our data, assumptions and publications to ensure our work is of the highest standard

  • Build and maintain strong and diverse stakeholder relationships

  • Represent and build our profile in SEA through outreach and engagement opportunities in the region

Skills and experience

Essential

  • 3-5 years of professional experience developing, financing or procuring clean energy in Southeast Asia

  • Fluent English

  • Strong quantitative experience

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver on KPIs

  • Experience engaging with multiple internal and external stakeholders to advance initiatives

  • Experience working with energy datasets

  • Understands the narrative of green energy in Southeast Asia

  • Understanding of supply and demand models, and LCOE calculations

  • Ability to deliver high-quality work to strict deadlines

Beneficial

  • Proficiency in an Asian language (Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Bahasa Indonesian, Vietnamese etc)

  • Understanding of energy modelling input

  • Working with renewable energy initiatives in Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines
