WHO IS THE IRISH GREEN BUILDING COUNCIL?

The Irish Green Building Council (IGBC) was established in 2011 as an independent, non-profit membership organisation, to provide leadership in the transformation to a sustainable built environment. The IGBC is made up of 320 of the most progressive organisations working in the Irish Property and construction sector.

It is affiliated with 70 national Green Building Councils that form the World Green Building Council, the largest organisation influencing sustainable construction worldwide. IGBC is now at an exciting stage, increasing the number of cutting edge projects to help transform the industry.

WHO DO WE NEED?

Ideally, you have strong project management and research skills coupled with construction technical expertise. You are confident to manage multiple projects and write new proposals for funding, liaising with our existing subject matter experts and working with our collaborators such as World GBC, national GBCs, universities and construction institutes.

You are joining a small (13 currently) but growing staff, so the key requirement is the flexibility to work across a wide range of activities and projects. You will manage a number of circularity, LCA and skills related projects which may include : development of a national construction skills roadmap, a national circularity roadmap,(so knowledge of running extensive stakeholder engagement would be a plus) and a number of cutting-edge circularity and LCA benchmarking projects.

Professional attributes

Ideally, you will have a background in research projects in the construction or buildings sector. You should also have good English, oral and written communication skills with excellent report and proposal writing skills. Much of this role will involve consultation with stakeholders. You need to be able to project manage multiple projects including the financial and technical reporting.

Personal attributes

Highly motivated to create change in the industry. Highly organised with strong time management skills to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities will include

  • Project management of multiple funded projects, including managing technical project staff.
  • Report writing for projects.
  • Writing new funding proposals.
  • Providing support to our members and broader industry.
  • Engaging with industry and government stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience required

Ideally 3rd level qualification or research background,  in construction such as architecture or engineering or other related experience working/ researching in the industry.

Skills required:

  • Project management skills, organisational and time management skills.
  • Report and proposal writing skills
  • Experience or knowledge in the Irish or European construction sector.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of research through post graduate programme, or post doc.
  • Interest or experience in LCA or circularity.

CONDITIONS

Indicative Salary €42,000 – €48,000 commensurate with experience, skills and qualifications. This will be initially a two-year fixed contract ( with the option of extending)  with a six-month probationary period. You will be based in 19 Mountjoy Square office, Dublin 1 with the option of flexible or hybrid working.
