Job Description

What your new role will entail

  • We are seeing an increase in demand for ESG advisory services. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:
  • Strengthen our position as a leader in sustainable infrastructure for major infrastructure projects in the UK and across the European region;
  • Continuously develop our sustainable infrastructure tools and service offerings with practical and viable solutions for clients;
  • Contribute to the delivery of our ambitious business plan – growing our share of sustainable infrastructure market by winning work with new/existing clients in the UK, across Europe;
  • Lead and deliver commercially successful projects that maintain the high-quality professional outputs that we are known for;
  • Develop talent within the team through line management and mentoring and support the upskilling of our colleagues on sustainable infrastructure; and,
  • You will be supported by your line manager with regular mentoring and in continuing your professional development.

As part of the Carbon & ESG leadership you will be expected to work collaboratively to lead and deliver a range of Sustainable infrastructure, ESG, climate change, and sustainability projects for multi-national businesses and investors, local, regional, and national governments, as well as supporting senior AECOM leaders in the wider Environment, Water and Energy end markets. We work from a range of our UK offices and are proud to have our Freedom to Grow programme which supports flexible working.

As one of the longest standing Carbon & ESG practices in the industry, our team have been advising our clients on sustainability governance and performance for over 20 years supporting not only infrastructure and energy but also our industrial clients. As one of our priority growth areas, the Carbon & ESG team fully aligns with AECOM’s Environment Water and Energy growth strategies and our Global Sustainable Legacies Strategy. Our collaboration with private and public sector clients is driven by a commitment to deliver on stakeholder expectations, anticipate and manage environmental and social risks, reduce carbon emissions, and enhance resilience in the face of the climate crisis.

Through our established skills in carbon accounting, net zero road-mapping and implementation, decarbonization and clean growth, ESG reporting, climate action and resilience and circular economy, we pave the way for sustainable practices that align with global objectives and promote lasting positive impacts.

This role is to support growth and be part of the leadership of ESG as we transition to a more sustainable future, supporting our clients to do the same. Here’s what we will need from you;

  • We welcome applications from those with track records in delivering and leading teams to deliver sustainable infrastructure and embodied carbon, and possessing:
  • Holistic understanding of the sustainability requirements applicable to major infrastructure, with a particular interest in enabling sustainable infrastructure;
  • Knowledge and experience of embedding sustainability into major infrastructure projects and programmes, including sustainability design standards such as BREEAM infrastructure, and sustainability, carbon management and climate resilience plans;
  • Demonstrated experience in advising on and integrating low carbon, resilient and wider sustainability solutions into infrastructure design;
  • An understanding of whole life carbon accounting and management for major infrastructure projects aligned to PAS2080;
  • A desire to deliver technical excellence;
  • Project and financial management experience;
  • Commercial awareness for business development, marketing, and proposal preparation;
  • Great communication skills in English, fluency in other languages an advantage;
  • Solid numeracy skills, confidence in working with large data sets and advanced Excel skills; and,
  • Problem solving abilities: Self-starter, who can design and deliver work under own initiative.
