2022 International Conference – Bamboo: A Very Sustainable Construction Material & the 3rd World Symposium on Sustainable Bio-Composite Materials and Structures/

Bamboo has been traditionally used as a construction material, and with technology and innovation development in past decades, bamboo and other bio-based materials can be a nature-based solution to global housing shortages, mitigate climate change, and contribute to achieving carbon neutrality. Moreover, bamboo has proven itself to contribute to livelihood, economy and environmental development.

There have been considerable efforts from different stakeholders particularly engineers, architects, landscape architecture designers, researchers, standard agencies, government, non-government and private sector to advance bamboo as a conventional material. The 2022 International Conference – Bamboo: A Very Sustainable Construction material & the 3^rd World Symposium on Sustainable Bio-Composite Materials and Structures (BARC-ICBCS2022) encompasses seven sessions of which two will be organized during BARC 2022 to deliberate on the potential uses and suitability of bamboo and other biomaterials as conventional construction materials.

How to participate

For full articles, we work towards the development and publication of journals or proceedings as follows:

• A special issue for bamboo and bio-based construction material in the journal Engineering Structures (ES, SCI journal)
  The call for articles is yet to be opened and the submission needs to meet the requirements of the journal.
• A special issue of 10 articles in the journal Sustainable Structures (SUST, an open access journal)

• A conference proceeding by Springer or Taylor Francis, including articles of architecture, civil engineering and landscape architecture.
